Skype is a software application that allows the user to make voice calls over the Internet protocol. Telephone and video calls between Skype users are completely free and you need to purchase credit for your landline and mobile phone. It also provides users with various other features such as instant messaging, file transfer, video conferencing and voicemail.
Skype is a Peer to Peer network created by Nicholas Zendstrom of Sweden and Janus Fries of Denmark. The two had previously worked on a file sharing network called Kazaa. By the end of the year, Skype had over 5 million users.
The network’s backing company, Skype Group, was bought by ebay in year 2 and bought Microsoft Skype for $ 1.9 billion in year 2. The company is headquartered in Luxembourg and has branches in London, Paris, Tallinn and Prague.
Skype Privacy: New information released by the big revealer Edward Snowden shows that Microsoft is providing NSA (NSA) in bulk with video and audio information passing through the Skype platform. Now that Skype has been in control of the Chinese people’s government for a long time, it has become one of the world’s biggest enemies of privacy.
